HIKING

A new brochure is available with detailed hiking/biking/equestrian trails. See the Trail Maps page to download it or pick it up in the Reserve at information kiosks.

Recommended hikes (short, intermediate, long) in single page format can be downloaded at the bottom of the Maps&Trails page . These maps must be used with the Carlton Brochure also downloadable from that page as PDF file.

Guided hiking events are scheduled during the summer months but may be cancelled due to heat and unpredictable trail conditions.  Information on hiking events on Sarasota County public lands is available on line: To register to receive a monthly update of SC Natural Resources nature events on public lands, send your request to Debby Zeilman via email at dzeilman@scgov.net.

ON-LINE REGISTRATION - Go to www.scgov.net. Click Calendar. Click the 'All Events' drop down, choose 'Nature Walks' and click 'go'. Scan the calendar for the event and date of your choice and click. Towards the bottom of each nature walk event is information with either a bolded area to click for on-line registration, supplying your name, email and phone number or a contact person and phone number to call for registration. (Please note: Your registration information will not be shared and will be used only for contact purposes for the event of inclement weather or walk cancelation only.
